Australia may rank as one of the most food secure countries in the world, but the reality is that more and more people are struggling to access or afford fresh and nutritious food.
Last year, two million households were severely food insecure, including 1.3 million children. In the last six months, 73% of the charities we support have reported an increase in demand, with a third of people seeking help are doing so for the first time in their lives. The hardest hit are families and single parents who are forced to make impossible choices about where their money goes.
No one should go hungry.
